Farewell is an academic short film created by some students of the Accademia Cinema Toscana of Lucca: The Producer Giulio Malandrino, the Directors and Screenplayers Mirko Ceravolo & Chiara Liscio, the DOPs Serena Pardini and Davide Simoncelli and last but not least our editor and VFX artist Sebastiano Torresan.
THE THEMES
Farewell is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi short film that deals with very important issues, it is a project:
- Against climate change
- Against violence
- Green
- Against functional illiteracy
“In a dystopian world, where people no longer recognize themselves as fellows but only as adversaries or momentary allies, the protagonist Sirio will understand that his desire to abandon the Earth expressed through daily and nocturnal prayers to the stars is actually nothing more than a desire to change the world. Sirio wants to improve it, bring it back to the values of kindness and altruism that are precisely those who are missing on Earth and its inhabitants. A redemption of the individual to arrive at the universal one.”
WHY WE DO IT:
We believe it is necessary to tell a story that will show what could happen in the future if we do not solve these issues in time. If change does not begin today, harmful contexts will grow and multiply exponentially, to a point of no return. This film wants to make the viewer reflect and then sensitize him and make him act in favor of peaceful situations with empathic attitudes.
WHO WE ARE:
We are film students who are making the final short film for our graduation. We all study at the Accademia Cinema Toscana in Lucca, but we come from all over Italy with the intention of learning the knowledge and the skills to be the future of this field. In 2023 we made a short film that deals with the theme of women’s revenge on abuses suffered; inspired by the true story of Artemisia Gentileschi was born “The Confession” a project that won2 Festivals and is continuing its distribution chain.
Here are some references of the previous short film, already sponsored through the same platform of “Produzioni dal Basso”:
